Sixth Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research

Sixth Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research held in Khartoum, Sudan, on 20-21 November 2012. It is worth mentioning that the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) held this Conference, in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Sudan.
Dr. Mehrad who was invited by General Director of ISESCO and Organization of Islamic Cooperation gave his speech about the establishing history of ISC, the process of indexing and the regulations that journals should follow to cite and index their scientific articles based on ISCs’ bylaws. Moreover, he elaborated citation system of scientific journals which are in English, Persian and Arabic and explained data indexing methods in ISC briefly. He added some statistics about the number of journals have indexed in ISC belongs to different countries and separately gave some statistics of journals in English and Persian. He mentioned that ISC is ISESCO’s scientific network which by receiving journals from Islamic countries provides their full texts to the users of ISC.
Dr. Mehrad made a comparison in indexed journals among Islamic countries in ISC and in his diagrams showed that Islamic countries portion in ISI is low but in ISC is significant. For the first time he announced the name of 10 top writers of some Islamic countries.
Finally, he posed a suggestion about donating scholarship in Scientometric in Islamic countries and he described the needed condition, too. His second suggestion was about establishing Publishing Corporation for publishing journals between Islamic countries.
