ISESCO meeting kicks off in ISC, southern Iran

Shiraz, Nov 11– The Meeting of Secretary Generals of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) National Commissions started work at the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) in Shiraz on Sunday.

The event is underway with the attendance of 40 representatives from the Islamic countries.

ISESCO was founded by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in May 1979. With 52 member-states, ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science and culture.

During the first day of the event, Gholamreza Karimi, Secretary General of ISESCO, Iranian Minister of Education Mohammad Bathaei and representative of Morocco are expected to deliver speeches. 

Representatives and secretary generals of 30 ISESCO national commissions, including Iran, Jordan, Afghanistan, Benin, Burkina Faso, Tajikistan, Uganda, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Chad, Togo, Tunisia, Djibouti, Senegal, Suriname, Iraq, Sultanate of Oman, Gabon, Guinea, Palestine, Republic of Comoros, Qatar, Cote d’Ivoire, Kuwait, Mali, Maldives, Malaysia, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria are present at the event.
