ISC Scientific Activities Expansion in South East Asia

The Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) was founded in 1956 as a non-governmental organization at a meeting in Bangkok of the heads of eight state universities in Southeast Asia. ASAIHL's purpose is to assist member institutions to strengthen themselves through mutual self-help and to achieve international distinction in teaching, research and public service.

The ASAIHL meeting was held in Iran in December 2018, with Qazvin Islamic Azad University (QIAU) as the host university. Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) was the guest of this meeting. ASAIHL plays a significant role as the source of valuable insight and inspiration for the development of higher education not only in Southeast Asia but also throughout the world. The main theme was “The Role of Private Universities on the Development of Higher Education”.

The Annual Meeting and the Conference of ASAIHL, chaired by Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehrani, and with the attendance of Professor Dr. Ninnat Olanvoravuth, Secretary-General of ASAIHL, as well as members of the Union.

The second lecturer was Dr. Dehghani, president of ISC, and the lecture was on the status of ASAIHL universities in international rankings such as Times, Shanghai and QS. It turned out that out of about 250 universities in the association. There are only 85 universities in these ranking systems. There are universities with very good performance in ranking systems that can serve as a basis for promotion. At the moment, universities of Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Eastern Timor, Poland, Belgium, Canada, France, UK, New Zealand, Sweden and the United States are the members of this association.
